I am starting to feel settled. Classes are almost in full swing. We’re doing productive things in labs, starting to learn things that may some day be important. I’m beginning to fall into a routine.
I started playing street hockey. It’s mostly Canadians. There’s a guy from Kalmar, Sweden who plays. He was pretty surprised when I told him that I had been to Kalmar before. Anyhow, they’re intense and it is an amazing workout. Too bad it’s only twice a week.
Exams are still a couple weeks off so I haven’t reached peak stress levels. Actually, that won’t be until mid-terms.
That’s me jumping into a waterfall.
Those are my legs.
These are my surrogate pets.

Alright. It’s been almost two weeks in now. I’m still completely in love with the island.
I thought veterinary school would be hard but holy fuck. I studied more in my first 3 days of classes than I did in an entire year at Delaware… and I’m still behind.
(Side note: speaking of Delaware, Obama announced today that Biden was his running-mate! Fuck yes!! This is like my dream team of politicians to run for this candidacy. I am almost finished Obama’s second book and I’m in love with the man.)
I’ve got anatomy, physiology, embryology, histology, animal behavior and professionalism this term. Anatomy is certainly the most intense so far. The professor is scatter brained and high strung as anything. He’s a great instructor though and he knows his stuff (he wrote the text used in this and other veterinary anatomy courses around the world).
The students are pretty widely varied. Aside from the Americans there’s people from Canada, England, Poland, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Germany, Russia. My roommate is from Botswana.
I’ve been to the beach about half a dozen or so times. It’s amazing. It’s so clear and beautiful. I’ve gone snorkling and found lots of starfish, sea urchins, fish, crabs. Brendan said he saw a little school of squid but I couldn’t locate them.
I’m on a somehow close to normal sleep schedule already too. I’ve been waking up at 7 or 8AM every day. I’m usually in bed before 2AM.
I’m just procrastinating studying more for anatomy.
What is the only laryngeal muscle which opens the glottic cleft? Answer: cricoarytenoideus dorsaslis. What is the unpaired hyoid bone that cross the midline? Basihyoid bone!
And these are questions that are starred for their importatance… ridiculous.

Walked on a powder black sand beach.
Walked on a powder white sand beach.
Picked up a star fish.
Crystal clear ocean water.
Breath-taking view everywhere.
Saw a shrinking lake.
Jumped from waterfalls.
Bought fresh fruits, vegetables and spices in the farmer’s market.
Watched Bolt break the 100m record in a tiny corner shop with about 50 Grenadians yelling and shouting.
Visited the fish and meat markets.
Went to Grand Etang National Forest (no monkeys, too late in the day).
Went to a Nutmeg factory.
Met amazing, friendly people.
I’m so lucky.
Thanks, Georgia.

I just saw this commercial. I forget what product or brand it was for (way to go, advertisers). Anyhow it shows some guys sitting on a park bench looking longingly at the joggers passing around him. A narrator kicks in talking about how “you just broke up with running last week… and now you see it everywhere you go” and then it procedes to continue on about how good it looks now and so forth.
Well, tonight I had my last two games of hockey until who knows when. I feel like we just had a really bad break up. I’m upset. I want to call every men’s league team that plays tomorrow and see if they need any fill-ins. Maybe I’ll make my way over to open hockey on Thursday. It’ll be my last chance before I’m sitting on an airplane.
Come Christmas break I’ll be calling up hockey again. Begging it to meet up with me. Just to get a tiny taste. It’ll have moved on without me, forgotten I even existed and I’ll still love it, think about it constantly
Life sucks.
Oh wait, nevermind, I’m about to go live on a tropical island. White sands and clear blue water, here I come.
Next time I see most of you fuckers you’ll all be pasty and white, mourning the lack of sunlight in your average day. I’ll be tan as hell and lookin’ good. Sweet.
Also, I realized today that I will not have a phone when I’m there. Maybe I’ll look into Skype or something like that to hear some of your sweet voices when I get homesick.

Today I went to a few stores to pick up some polaroid film (as many of you are probably aware, it’s no longer in production and becoming increasingly hard to find). No luck.
But something else amazing has blossomed from that failed task. Matt had recently watched the episode of Good Eats where they show off a homemade ceramic smoker. He’d been thinking about making one so we got to it. So after trips to Walmart, Lowes, Walgreens and K-Mart we have everything we need and it is working wonderfully. In about 3 hours we can start smoking the meat and in about 12 hours we can eat it. HELL YEAH.
I’m thinking for the next week until I move I’ll be eating smoked food every day.

A week and a half left to go. This is nuts. Took care of my loans and such today. All of my financing is all set for this semester. I got a physical and some vaccinations yesterday. I’m healthy. I’m in love with this girl on Insant Beauty Pageant. Mostly because she kind of looks like Mandy Moore and isn’t a bitch.
Why am I even watching this show? It’s totally garbage. I can only watch this sort of stuff when I have someone to talk shit with. I guess that’s why I have to blog about it. Now I’m talking shit with the whole world.
“My step-dad could look better in a bikini than that bitch!”
NICE.
I think I’m going to make some pasta,
Yesterday’s last show at 700 Club was pretty fun. The double set-up dueling band style for all of the bands was a pretty great idea to end it.
This show is over so I have no reason to blog anymore. VVvvvvv.
